“The logic behind a weight loss”- Delna Pooniwala.

Healthy weight loss occurs when you burn more calories than you consume. Choosing a healthy and well-balanced diet as well as getting plenty of exercise is the way to achieve this. To burn one pound, you must create a deficit of 3,500 calories. However, this has to be carefully planned without creating a nutritional deficit.

While on a diet, you need to not only focus on losing weight but also improving the condition of your overall health, skin, nails and hair.

Over the years I have seen people using different variations of the’ Dumbbell Row’.

Most tend to approach it with a kyphotic thoracic spine, posterior pelvic tilt. Some have their head too high or low, elbows too wide and a strain on the shoulder, wrist curling to lift additional weight, jerks and pulls to create a momentum rather than a smooth transition and contraction of back & some even rotate their torso.

The ‘Row’ is intended to work the Latissimus Dorsi, Rhomboids, Lower Traps and erector spine and requires stabilization from the rotator cuff. If done well, you would feel the muscle between and below the shoulder blades burning like crazy.
This workout also works as a core stabilization exercise.

Do this right and see yourself sculpt a beautiful back!!

“Start your weekend morning with some stretching …

“Start your weekend morning with some stretching routines” – Delna Pooniwala.

It is very easy to fall into a routine when it comes to exercise, but going on an auto pilot mode and finding a comfortable workout would never yield results.

Exercise principles suggest that minor changes in training regiments that include variation in intensity, duration, volume, and planned weekly micro cycles would work best since routine workouts quickly lead to plateaus and limit your strength gains. Hence, you can change the exercise, weight, or change the recovery time.

Muscles soon get used to an exercise program, and the body naturally tries to conserve energy through maximum efficiency of movement. As soon as this happens, you lose much of the benefit of an exercise, no matter how much weight you’re using.

If you are regular with your routine, it may be a good idea to spend a session a week doing a complete stretch workout. This would not only help in flexibility, but would also sooth tired muscles and help increase your range of motion that would improve the quality of your daily activities and tasks.

Furthermore, it sure is relaxing and fun!!

“A tuna sandwich diet can aid weightloss” – Delna Pooniwala.

Tuna is low in fat and calories, making it a good choice for a weight loss meal plan. Incorporating a tuna sandwiches diet may help you lose weight as well as offering several important nutrients. However, always talk to your doctor or a nutritionist before beginning any new weight loss program.

Tuna is low in calories and rich in omega-3 fatty acids, which keep cholesterol levels healthy, lowering your risk of heart disease and supporting a healthy brain.

Tuna contains protein that are great for muscles and skin and vitamin D, which plays a role in calcium absorption for healthy bones.
When you make your tuna sandwich with whole-wheat or multigrain bread, it increases your intake of fiber and complex carbohydrates. While on a diet you need to choose the right salad dressings to suit your nutritional needs.

There is no commercial tuna sandwich diet plan so it would specifically have to be designed for you. But it’s going to be Fun, Tasty & would make you lose weight.!!

“Green Tea can help mobilize fat from fat …

“Green Tea can help mobilize fat from fat cells” – Delna Pooniwala.

In order to burn fat, it must first be broken down in the fat cell and moved into the bloodstream.

The active compounds in green tea can aid in this process by boosting the effects of some fat burning hormones.

The main antioxidant in tea, EGCG, can help inhibit an enzyme that breaks down the hormone norepinephrine.

When this enzyme is inhibited, the amount of norepinephrine increases.

This hormone is used by the nervous system as a signal to the fat cells, telling them to break down fat. Therefore, more norepinephrine leads to a stronger signal being sent to the fat cell and more fat gets broken down.

Caffeine and EGCG (both found naturally in green tea) may actually have a synergistic effect, because caffeine enhances another step in the same pathway.

The end result is that the fat cell breaks down more fat, which is released into the bloodstream and becomes available for use as energy.

Citrus fruits are rich in Vitamin C, calcium, copper, phosphorus, thiamin, pantothenic acid, potassium, riboflavin, vitamin B6, niacin, phytochemicals and magnesium.

Since the content of Vitamin C is high, it helps in the formation of collagen that makes the skin strong, supple, smooth and youthful. Vitamin C gives a natural radiance, hydration and leaves the skin clear with regular intake. Individuals who consumed more Vitamin C appeared to have lesser wrinkles and skin dryness. Vitamin C plays an integral part in the growth and repair of body tissues.

Consumption of citrus fruits delays wrinkles, discoloration, sagging and signs of aging in the skin and strengthens and maintain the integrity of nails. It also lets them grow fast and healthy. Vitamin C present in citrus fruits is also known to be the most effective nutrient, which strengthens and stimulates hair growth. Regular dose of Vitamin C can improve your hair condition as well. Citrus fruits contain inositol, which stops hair thinning and balding.

Don’t you think it’s time you made citrus a part of your daily beauty diet?

“One small positive thought in the morning will change your day” – Delna Pooniwala.

Optimistic people have discovered that the human mind has the power to turn wishes into reality through positive thinking which is a powerful tool for self healing.

According to psychology our mind controls our body and positive thinking is an optimistic state of mind that always sees the bright side of life.

“Look younger with healthier skin, by drinking 8 …

“Look younger with healthier skin, by drinking 8 glasses of water daily”- Delna Pooniwala.

We all want to have clear and firm skin that looks youthful and try out various skin creams, home remedies and expensive dermatological treatments to achieve that glow.

It is usually plump skin cells, that give that firmness to our skin and the simple exercise is hydration, would plump these cells, reducing the appearance of dry creased skin and add suppleness and smoothness to your skin.

Drinking water has also been known to be successful in improving various skin conditions like eczema & acne. However, do note that drinking water is not the cure for pimples. Hydrating helps your skin to self-moisturize and cleanses your cells from the built-up of toxins, but it does not directly affect your oil production.

Puffy eyes could be one more issue with females. This could be due to ageing skin, drinking too much alcohol, smoking, stress, bad eating habits. Since drinking adequate water helps flush out the toxins from your system it reduces the amount of salt concentration around the eye area, giving a younger look.

Now that we are aware that drinking water keeps your skin look youthful and properly hydrated, and decreases the possibility of a dry-out causing fine wrinkles and plumps the skin, shouldn’t we all bring that natural glow on your face?

“Creating the artificial Body”- Delna …

“Creating the artificial Body”- Delna Pooniwala.

This post specially goes out to younger males who find it a happening thing to get a physique that is ripped to the ‘T’ & reveals every muscle definition in the body.

Getting tempted to look like a Greek God:

I truly wonder how young men can sacrifice their health just to look good temporarily. They get so awed with what we consider ‘flawless perfection’ that they do not think and reason if what they are seeing is true or just an artificial body.

Some of us work hard for it and eat right and devote ourselves to chisel the physique & drain the fat percentage to its bare minimum and show off our definitions. It is hard work, discipline & devotion every day single day of the year.

But unfortunately, a few youngsters want a short cut and are mislead into a miracle called ‘Steroid’. It is very disturbing to know that usually people who are not educated in this field are the ones who propagate its use. They call it cycles and make it sound hep and common. They may even inform these youngsters that there are a set of ‘safe steroids’ which could be used. But can poison ever be safe?

Youngsters, who have an aspiration, look up to body builders and want to create a physique like them. However, they are not aware about the discipline, training, diet, and professional guidance and constant monitoring that these people put into their creation. Finally it is a profession & they are they require marketing themselves as a brand & so there is a 24 hour dedication.

Short term effects:
This is a short lived image and an addictive one because if you notice, most humans in some form are obsessed by the way they look, especially youngsters. When you observe certain such guys at a gym, they would do a set of curls & then flex & observe their biceps in the mirror. They love themselves looking a particular way. So now just imagine if they were talked into being on a medication, this effect would drive them insanely ‘WOW’. Do you think he would ever be able to get off it – I doubt.

Anabolic steroids are made in a lab from the male hormone testosterone and did you know that the normal production of testosterone by the male body may shut down because of the artificial abundance of steroids in the bloodstream. When this happens, it would never return back to normal & you can imagine what would happen when a man stops producing male hormones. To start with, his muscles would shrivel and become small. This would cause the biggest psychological impact for a person who has been used to seeing himself in a particular way & creating an image for himself. Unfortunately, he would never be able to get out of these cycles.

During my study research with Nirmal Nair who is an expert at sports medicine, I learnt that people consume Clenbuterol Hydrochloride which is a powerful bronchodilator that is used to treat breathing disorders like asthma. Clenbuterol is used as a fat burning tool used by many anabolic steroid users. Clenbuterol decreases catabolism and increases hypermetabolism. However, the moment person goes off treatment, it acts as a spring board and they suddenly put on weight.

Side Effects:
These youth are never aware that the side effects of anabolic steroids include heart attack, strokes, liver damage, acne, infertility, short stature, tendon rupture, homicidal rage, mania, and delusions, and hormone changes. Their muscles age faster & lack moisture so they look ripped but would suffer from cramps. Their reflexes go slower than others & may even affect their potency. There are also instances where these youth my get paralyzed or would require to amputee a part of their body.

Do you really think its worth the risk ?

“Surround yourself with people who challenge …

“Surround yourself with people who challenge you, push you and motivate you”- Delna Pooniwala.

Life is all about progression and growth. It doesn’t make sense to stagnate in any way. There has to be constant change and improvement in all quarters of life be it professional, financial, in the way you look, your health, strength, endurance everything.

We humans feel extremely comfortable in the company of people who aspire to be like us and compliment us for the quality in us that they look up to. However, to progress, we need to be in the company of people who are better than us, so that we can aspire and be like them.
We need to be influenced by positive people who can resonate with our aspirations and motivate and guide us in the right direction to achieve our specific goals.

You need to get out of your comfort zone and get into the improvement mode to succeed!!
